Best: Spent the night in hospital

An update on Ireland prop Simon Best is expected on Thursday afternoon after the Ireland prop was rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening.

Best was walking around town in Bordeaux when he suddenly started feeling unwell.

The 29-year-old had a mild headache, difficulty speaking and complained of a loss of feeling down his right side and was immediately transferred to hospital where tests were carried out.

"Simon spent the night in hospital," said an Irish Rugby Football Union spokesman on Thursday.

"He underwent further tests this morning to pinpoint the reason for the symptoms."

Those tests included an MRI scan, an angiogram and a CT, but doctors have been unable to give a clear diagnosis on his condition.

The Ulster star has been transferred to Haut Levque Hospital in Bordeaux for further investigation.

An update expected later on Thursday.
