Italy will have to wait on the fitness of Bortolami
Italy have been dealt a major blow ahead of their winner takes all clash with Scotland on Saturday with the news they may be without captain Marco Bortolami.
The Italian medical staff have suggested the second row rests due to a strain in his left thigh, but the coaching staff are hoping he will be fit to play.
Fellow second row Santiago Dellape, flanker Josh Sole and wing Marko Stanojevic are back in training after recovering from injuries sustained earlier in the tournament, while scans have ruled out any serious injury for loose forward Sergio Parisse.
Medical staff are also optimistic that back row Manoa Vosawai and winger Pablo Canavosio will be available for the Scotland match.
If Italy do win against Scotland it will be the first time they have every qualified for the quarter final stages of the tournament.
