Portugal achieve their goal
Portugal celebrate their try against New Zealand
Tomaz Morais was delighted with the way his Portuguese side acquitted themselves, despite suffering a 108-13 loss at the hands of the All Blacks on Saturday.
Portugal started the game full of spirit and threw themselves at the All Blacks in every aspect of the game, and until the twentieth minute managed to frustrate their superior opponents.
Yet in the end the physicality of the All Blacks took its toll and they ran away with the game, but Morais couldn't have asked for anymore from his charges.
"We couldn't resist their physicality, but we played rugby from the very first minute to the very last," he told BBC Sport.
The goal for Portugal was to score a try, and that is exactly what they did in the second half when Rui Cordeiro burrowed his way over, much to the delight of the crowd.
"Portugal went out to score a first try against New Zealand and we did that," Morais added.
"We had a good positive attitude in the game, and New Zealand didn't break the record for number of points scored. All our players came out of the game as survivors."
