Romanian centre Ionut Tofan has been forced to return home for surgery on a torn bicep, and will be replaced by Stefan Ciuntu of Steaua Bucharest.

Tofan suffered the injury in his side's 42-0 defeat against Scotland and requires surgery. Ciuntu, who is uncapped, has joined the squad for their remaining two games, against Portugal and New Zealand.

Romania have lost both of their pool games to date, and their only hope of recording a win now is on Tuesday when they play fellow minnows Portugal.
